According to USA TODAY:

Taylor Swift has won.

After just a few hours of deliberation, the jury in Swift’s groping trial reached a unanimous verdict Monday: They believe Swift was groped — assaulted and battered, in the legal terminology — by ex-Denver radio DJ David Mueller in 2013.

Also, the jury decided that Swift’s mother, Andrea Swift, and a manager, Frank Bell, were not responsible for Mueller’s firing after the encounter, that they were within their rights to contact Mueller’s bosses about what Swift said happened to her during a photo op at a pre-concert meet-and-greet.

The verdict by the six women and two men on the jury is a total vindication for Swift and her team, and a total loss for Mueller. The two have spent the last two years in a legal battle over their dueling civil lawsuits. The verdict comes at the end of a six-day trial in federal court in Denver.

After the verdict was read, Swift hugged her crying mother. Later, she issued a statement.

“I want to thank Judge William J. Martinez and the jury for their careful consideration, my attorneys Doug Baldridge, Danielle Foley, Jay Schaudies and Katie Wright for fighting for me and anyone who feels silenced by a sexual assault, and especially anyone who offered their support throughout this four-year ordeal and two-year long trial process,” Swift said in a statement issued by her publicist, Tree Paine, who has been in court with Swift every day since the trial began on Monday.

“I acknowledge the privilege that I benefit from in life, in society and in my ability to shoulder the enormous cost of defending myself in a trial like this. My hope is to help those whose voices should also be heard. Therefore, I will be making donations in the near future to multiple organizations that help sexual assault victims defend themselves.”

According to the NEW YORK TIMES

After four days of testimony, a federal judge on Friday dropped Taylor Swift from a suit filed by a radio host who took the star to court claiming she had falsely accused him of groping her.

“Taylor Swift did not act improperly,” Judge William J. Martínez said in United States District Court in Denver. He said David Mueller, the former host of a radio program here, offered “insufficient evidence Miss Taylor Swift acted improperly when she reported an assault she truly believed happened.”

The judge’s ruling stopped short of saying the groping had occurred, as Ms. Swift had testified in a dramatic turn on the witness stand Thursday. But the judge said there was not enough evidence to proceed as far as giving the case to a jury.

Ms. Swift smiled broadly at the news and people at her table — including her mother, Andrea; one of her managers, Frank Bell; and her lawyers — embraced.

Jodi shares all the details in the Hollywood Outsider starting at 13:57 minutes in today’s show podcast.

According to USA TODAY

Wearing a white dress with a black jacket, Swift sat in the courtroom with her mother, Andrea Swift, and watched as an eight-member jury was chosen from a pool of 60 prospects. According to the Associated Press, Mueller had his back turned to Swift, and appeared to read documents as Swift watched the proceedings. Potential jurors were asked a number of questions, including whether they had bias for or against either party. One juror was dismissed for saying that Swift “seems petty and spiteful.”

David Mueller, a Denver radio host, then 51, sued Swift in 2015, two years after he was fired by his station for alleged violation of the morality clause in his contract. He says he was fired two days after Swift, her mother, and manager complained he touched Swift inappropriately at pre-concert event during Swift’s Red tour.

According to INDEPENDENT

Swift has claimed David Mueller, a DJ for radio station KYGO-FM, reached under her skirt and grabbed her buttocks while the two were posing for a picture in 2013.

The pop star took to the stand in the civil suit and said she felt “violated” and that the incident “was horrifying, shocking”.

During her testimony Swift refused to criticise her bodyguards for not responding sooner.

Mr Mueller’s lawyers turned their attention to Swift’s behaviour, asking why she had not reacted immediately and instead waited until she had greeted others before making a complaint.

Swift said she did not want to ruin the evening for her fans and had chosen to go into “auto pilot”.
